In response to chaos.

I yearn for the day I can look at the news in the morning, and a new shooting hasn't occurred the night before. I yearn for the day I can think about having kids in the future, and not have extensive fear run through me. I yearn for the day that instead of speaking slander and hatred, we speak love and life.

You all know the current state of our country. It's in complete disarray, it seems like. Many are speaking into the fear they have for the upcoming elections. So many that are to be working for justice are being killed or are killing. I've been doing some research, and we won't even get into the economic predicament we could be entering if this all continues.

It's chaos, friends. And to be quite frank, it's kind of terrifying.

I was praying this morning after reading of the shooting in Dallas, completely heartbroken. I expressed my fear and heartache to God, and He responded some pretty simple, yet profound things to me. He impressed on my heart that He is the God of heaven and earth, and He loves us. And He also impressed on my heart that He is heartbroken as well. Sin continues, to this day, to separate us from the love of the Father, even though that was conquered 2000 years ago. It's as though we are prisoners that have been set free, yet choose to remain in our prison cell.

However, evil does not reign. God does.

Let me say that again. God reigns.

He is the Justice that we are all posting on facebook about.
He is the Truth that we are pressuring a political candidate to be about.
He is the Peace many of us haven't experienced for such a long period of time.
He is Abba (God as Father).

So my next question to God was, what can we do to stop all this chaos?
His response was a simple one yet again that was rooted in scripture.
I reign.
Humans try to seek justice on their own terms, and people are getting killed.
So simply seek me first and only, and your motivation will be to work for the Kingdom of heaven, the Kingdom of light. If you're not living for the Kingdom of heaven, you're living for the kingdom of darkness.

So friends, as we are desperately seeking to find a response to all this evil, I urge you to rather turn your face to the Goodness of our God and seek desperately His will.

What does that look like?

That person in your office that you don't like, get to know them. Get to know why they function the way they do.
Reconcile with your loved ones.
Yearn to be a presence that boldly proclaims love wherever you go.
It is in these ways, among many others, that you are seeking Goodness.

Remember, our God is beautiful, and everything He creates is beautiful. Although the actions of some people may not be beautiful during this time, the person still is. Love them.

God is here. Let Him work.
